Rockaway Beach Friends of the Library

Library Friends Groups

First we want to thank all of you for 10 years of a very successful local library.

On July 3rd, 1999, the Rockaway Beach Friends of the Library opened their doors to the patrons of Rockaway. Once the home of the Rockaway Women’s Club, these individuals decided to donate the building for a local library and founded the Friends of the Library to accomplish this task. A very dedicated group of local citizens worked countless hours to refurbish the building and get our current library facility up and running. The next time you’re in the library please take a moment to look at the Friends scrapbook, which highlights the first years.

The Friends of the Library are responsible for providing all funds for the utilities and maintenance of the building and grounds of our library. In addition, we help to sponsor events such as the summer reading programs, book sales, musical programs around the holidays and supplies for the library facilities. Your memberships and contributions make this possible and we want to say thanks for all your support.

Our last 10 years have been full of changes and growth in our library. The materials and professional staff are provided by the Tillamook County Library system. The introduction of the state of the art computer system was initially added with donations from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and we now have two working computers (we are working hard to get that 3rd one back up and running) and wireless internet access, in addition to keeping our shelves stocked and our patrons happy. Thanks to all who support the Tillamook County Library system.
